Heather Selck – Cleft NAM Specialist
Heather Selke learned early as the granddaughter of a successful dentist in Virginia that if you wanted to make a difference in your craft that you had to care about the details of the care that you are giving. Heather has more than 20 years experience with nasoalveolar molding and is instrumental in helping LEAP Global Missions deliver dental care to the children of Belize.
“I would watch my grandfather go the extra mile with his patients,” she said. “He truly cared about them as a person….they were more than patients to him. As I grew up and spent summers assisting him and learning about lab work, the seed was planted for what was to be my career. I knew I wanted to follow my grandfather’s example and serve people the way he served his patients with excellence.”

She not only holds a Lecturer position at the University of Texas at Dallas, but has also spread her skills internationally to educate remote parts of the world on how to properly feed their infants. She is an advocate for both patients and speech practitioners. She developed “Camp C.A.R.E” through UTD that allowed Speech Pathology graduate students to be individually paired with a child with a craniofacial difference, creating not only intensive speech therapy but also inseparable bonds.
